    finally!!!! | branding

Has anyone told you that designing for someone is easier then designing for yourself?  Well if they have not, it is.  Trying to pin point down what you want to convey, what style you want to present is not an easy task.  I have been through countless ideas and colors and everything in between.

Branding is a very important part of anyone's business.  It defines who you are and how you want to be presented to your collegues and clients.  That is why it is very important to higher someone you trust that will get your angle.  But do not be discouraged if it takes time.  Creating a brand for someone is a process.  Some people are very successful of getting their clients over night and others, it just may take some time.  But it is well worth it in the end.  Plus I think it's fun in the idea of getting to know your client.  You build lasting relationships for years to come.

I could go on in the importance of highering someone, but if you have been following my site and noticing the changes over the last couple of years you will understand what I mean.  It was a fun task for me in that I could see myself grow over time, but I was also able to produce something that I love and will keep.

    Hope you all like!!

Oh, and any post is no fun without a pic.  This is a logo design that I did for a client out of the "logo's for sale".  I was really excited with what we came up with.

Stephanie of Stephanie Dawn Photography purchased a "logo for sale" and we tweaked to her needs.  Once I get her website, etc I'll post so you can check her out.

Oh and here is what it looked like before we tweaked.

    logos, logos, logos

Talk about being busy.  I have worked with some wonderful clients in creating great logos.  But as we all know, there are some that just don't make the cut.  And instead of letting them go to waste, why not sell them at a cheaper price?

Well, now it's here!!  I have created a place where I'll be posting unused, unwanted, special logos for the grabbing.  Remember it's a first come first serve basis.  And the fun little details are a click away!!

    logo work

Just wanted to post a little logo work I finished up.  I had the pleasure of working with Mellisa in creating a logo for her photography business.  I was quite please with the results and I can't wait to see it in action for her.

    lemonade & spearmint | color

Each time I am in the grocery store, I find myself going towards the magazine aisle.  Don't get me wrong, this selection wasn't anything to boast about, but I did find myself there.  I like to thumb through the pages and see what kind of things pop out at me, artisitically.

Even though I am happily married, have been for eight years which I am still trying to figure out where the time has gone, I picked up a bridal magazine.  Well, I can actually say that I can still pick it up since my sister is getting married a little over a year from now.  Gotta get her some ideas!!!  On to the real reason for picking it up... They always have great images or designs.  You can get great inspiration from someone's weddings, whether it be a theme or style.  And while all of those really jumped out at me, it was the photography and the color inspirations that it gave me.  They talked about the color trends that are really popular right now.  The one's that can go with each season.  They all seemed gorgeous, but for some reason my eye kept going to lemonade and spearmint.

I mulled on it for days.  Trying to think of something that would be interesting.  Something that could make for a great design, until i sat down again with that same magazine and saw elements that just screamed out to me.  One's that would be great to incorporate.  And along with that came these colors.  Finally I decided to scetch what I was seeing and thinking, and believe me, I hate scetching out designs.  I would rather jump to the creating then the brainstorming anyday.  You can ask my prof's from college, that's of course if they still remember me?  But for some reason this time it worked.  I was able to plan and idea of what I wanted.  A basis for a complete thought.

And here it is!!  It's a 5x5 promo card for someone who is just starting out and wanting to build their portfolio.  This is just one piece in a large marketing collection that I have in the works.  And just for the fun and the preview of it, the first 25 comments 50 comments on this post will be able to get this template FREE!!

Now kids, I'll be out of town starting tomorrow afternoon, but I'll be back Sunday night.  I'll send you the file within 24 hours of your post, but if for some reason I take longer, well I'm sorry and I hope you understand.

Here's the front if you would like to see it better:

    Here's the back:

It may take me a little while, but as I said earlier I am in the process of creating a large marketing packet.  Business card, pricing sheet, you name it.  And speaking of naming it, I would love a little help in ideas of the things you can't find in a marketing packet that you would like to see.  Who know's, I may just give you that item free.  Oh, and don't forget to fill in your email addy.  I have to know where to send the template too!!!

Available | Black & White Collection | Frames

Lately I have been having a lot of fun trying to come up with different frames to use for just about anything.  And for some reason I have been really attracted to the classic look of black & white.  There's no mistaking it, it fits with just about anything you produce.  And it just really goes along with black & white photography, which I think has to be one of my favorite mediums.  Ah the days of my old Topcon and the dark room!!

What I have created are 5 different styles (love, happiness, laughter, classic, and dreams) to be printed on either a 5x7 or 5x5 card, or could also be printed as a photo to be framed.  I think a collage of these on the wall would be beautiful. Also, for this collection I am including the 5 frames as png files so that you can make a brush to use for other applications.  Instructions and Terms of Use will be included in the file, but if there are any questions just let me know.  Also, I have used the font English, which is a free font.  I try to use free fonts wherever possible.

    So without further ado....

To purchase, check out my shop for pricing.

    sneak peak | frames

I just wanted to show you something that I am working on for my shop.  It's been over a week since I had opened it up, and as you can notice, not much has been happening over there.  So I thought I would give you a small glimpse of what I am working on.  It's an idea I have had in my head for months but hadn't had the chance to work on them.

All the craze lately has been frames for just about everything.  Tags, cards, photo books, the list could go on.  I wanted to try my hand at it myself and so here is one that I have worked up.  I am hoping to make it a large collection so that you have so much to choose from.

    Here's your sneak peak!!!

    Template

Today I have been trying to come up with a template.  I think I have been wracking my brain all week of what I would really like to make.  And so I come up with this ( an idea I found searching the net) :

If there is interest in it, please let me know.  I may have it available if there is enough interest.

    Designing

Wow, I can't believe it's been since Christmas that I posted on this side of my blog.

I just wanted to let you know what I have been up to in my world of designing.  I have been perfecting my techniques as well as working on some projects for clients.  Currently I have been working on a logo and while I am not quite finished yet, I do have one's they decided would not work for them.  So I wanted to show them here.

I think this one was a fun one for me and I wanted to try something a little different.

Gradually I'll show the other designs I came up with later so you can see how many variations I was able to get.  It's amazing how one idea can blossom into others.
